Eczema is medically called Atopic Dermatitis. It tends to show itself as crusty forms on almost any area of the body. It is often red to dark red in appearance, depending on your skin colour. It can be flat or raised and scabby. The scabs may be dry and cracked. You will probably find the area itchy or crusty, weepy, itchy or flaky. You would find the area quite raw, especially around the eyes, but the Eczema condition on the sensitve skin, is made worse by scratching. What is the best treatment for Eczema?

We would be primarily using the Dermalux® MD. The wavelengths of the LED light therapy machine are delivered in therapeutic doses to instantly combat Eczema on the scalp, forehead, cheeks, nose, face, chin, arms, neck, nape of neck, hairline, back, chest, hands, fingers, legs, ankles, feet and toes. The Dermalux combination of light wavelengths, instantly stimulates collagen production in a soothing and warming experience over the course of around 25 minutes. The varying wavelengths of this phototherapy help destroy the bacteria that is causing some of the Eczema. It will also increase skin hydration, improve the texture and laxity of the skin. The inflamed nature around the Eczema also gets reduced, along with the itchiness and soreness of the sensitive skin areas.
Will my overall skin be improved with LED?

Yes. The infrared lights used are extremely beneficial to not just the radical improvement of the Eczema but also every area of the skin on the body that is in range of the treatment.  The phototherapy wavelengths create cellular renewal and and repair to the skin is immediately activated. The increase in collagen is also immediate and the inflammation, soreness, itchiness and redness of the Eczema will begin to subside, due to the bacteria being destroyed.

Which type of food is good to help calm Eczema?

Inflammation-fighting flavonoids such as apples, broccoli, blueberries, spinach, kale and cherries. These fruits fight inflammation of the skin and should help calm the Eczema and the itchiness.

What can cause Eczema?

It can be genetic. Other than that it may also be an allergy to certain food types, such as wheat, dairy, soya, peanuts. It could be certain man-made or natural fibres in clothes or on fabric, that are in touch with the skin.
It may also be hormonal changes. Some ladies may find that during pregnancy or before their period that the symptoms are worse.

Which fruits should you avoided if you have Eczema?

These fruits can cause further reaction to Eczema. Citrus fruits in general, such as oranges, lemons, grapefruit, and other fruits that fall under the category of citrus fruits are known to be common sources that cause allergic reactions. The chemicals found in citrus fruits may increase the symptoms of eczema, so it is best to avoid them if suffering from eczema

Which foods should be avoided if Eczema is present?

For Dyshidrotic Eczema (Eczema on feet, fingers, toes and hands), it will be food that contain Nickel Nickel is present in some canned meats, chocolate, seeds, beans (including soy), peas and shellfish.
Also cheese and dairy products may make Eczema worse.

Does the sunshine help Eczema?

We would recommend sun exposure daily, if possible. However, it is important to stress the importance of not being in direct sunlight over an extended period of time, and to always wear a high SPF (min 30).
A combination of sunlight and TriWave MD Phototherapy will quicken Eczema recovery.

Does stress cause Eczema?

Stress can contributor to Eczema through its effects on immune response and skin barrier function. This may cause the Eczema to show itself on any area of the body including the nape of the neck, the hairline, the fingers, the toes, the hands and the face.
